Primary Physical Education Partnership

Primary PE Partnership

Part of the London 2012 Olympic legacy saw the introduction of the PE and Sport Premium for Primary Schools’. As a result of this, in 2013 Kingswood Academy began working with a partnership of local Primary schools to support them with PE and School Sport. Primary schools were instructed, by the government, to use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. The long term aim is to get more people playing sport safely from a young age, and help them keep playing sport throughout their life.

In order to achieve this aim, Kingswood Academy has been sending out a specialist PE teacher to work in schools alongside Primary teachers. There are currently eight schools involved in our partnership: Biggin Hill, Broadacre, Bude Park, Cleeve, Dorchester, Highlands, Kingswood Parks and St Mary Queen of Martrys Primary schools. The support has involved Kingswood Academy staff supporting classroom teachers with the planning, delivery and assessment of PE lessons to help them teach PE more effectively.

Alongside this, Kingswood Academy has offered Primary schools a wide range of professional development opportunities which are open to all of their staff to provide further training. Combined with this is an extensive programme of inter school competitions open to all partnership schools covering a wide range of activities across all year groups. These competitions enable every single child the chance to take part in competitive sport, aiming to motive and inspire them to continue with sport.

If you would like more information or to find out how to get involved in the partnership please contact Kingswood Academy.
