Curriculum

Our students follow a personalised curriculum which develops them intellectually, physically, socially, emotionally and morally.  We implement programmes of study that develop their curiosity and passion for learning; and also the personal drive they will need to become independent life-long learners. Bespoke learning experiences are strategically created offering rich and deep learning opportunities within a framework promoting the use of educational research, modern technology and global themes. We want every student to find our curriculum engaging, challenging and thought provoking.

Our curriculum actively utilises the increasing diversity of our student body, in terms of culture, language and faith, to enrich our learning provision and environment.  This ensures that our students understand that everyone is valued; we celebrate diversity, honour British traditions and respect each other’s’ rights and beliefs. Our curriculum deliberately challenges stereotyping and prejudice in all its forms, and the academy develops the confidence and resilience our students need to challenge injustice.

Our curriculum sets the highest expectations for all students and demands outstanding learning, in every lesson, every day.  Character Education programmes encourage students to set aspirational life goals and help them to recognise their importance in the world.  We believe that through our personalised curriculum anything can be achieved and possibilities are limitless. Regardless of starting point, every student will make exceptional progress.   We demand nothing less than an excellent attitude towards learning and a no excuses mind-set.  Regular high quality marking and feedback requires our students to embrace guidance in a culture where feedback is welcomed, and actively sought. Our relentlessly high expectations ensure that our students are fully prepared to apply themselves in every aspect of life, every day. This ensures that our students achieve the highest academic grades; opening doors to a myriad of opportunities once they leave our care.

The aim of our curriculum is to produce well rounded young people who are an asset to their local community, and who can make a positive contribution on a worldwide scale. Leaving us as resilient learners with a never give up attitude to life.
