KS4 Examination Curriculum

Students have the option to study Dance for a formal qualification in key stage 4. Our aim is to deliver outstanding outcomes that allow students to become the employees of choice in the dance industry.

Students currently study the AQA GCSE Dance qualification. Students are assessed through a set dance (30%), a group or duo performance (20%), Solo composition (15%), Choreography of a dance (15%) and a written exam on critical appreciation of dance (20%).

How do we assess students in Dance?

Each year group will be assessed according to the whole school assessment calendar.

  • Year 7 and 8 are assessed practically and through theory booklets across the three dance assessment foci
  • Year 9, 10 and 11 complete past papers as well as mock performance of the practical element of the course
